Skeweville

For those of you who don’t know, skewville was an actual place. It was first inhabited by Ad & twin brother, Droo, circa 1996. Skewville was coined originally for its warped structure as well as their crooked sense. In some circles, the word “skewville” now stands for a specific style or even places beyond the original structure.

Skewville is most know for its fake wooden sneakers. Even 10 years ago, Posters, stickers and stencils cluttered every street corner in NYC, SO ,the need for a New media Space gave birth to their sneaker mission.” When dogs Fly” . Dogs, Kicks, Grips, Sneaks or whatever you want to call them, as Kids they tossed their old sneakers over the local power lines when they got new ones. It was a symbol of change and a way to represent the hood. In 1999 they started making Wooden Dogs to Continue their childhood mission. Since then thousands have been silkscreened, hand cut. Drilled, laced, and then tossed all globe.

Skewville has been in this game now for over 10 years and has gained the respect of old and new street artist from around the world. While still continuing to build there street cred, they have also crossed over to the gallery scene implimenting their street -feel indoors. While alway evolving their Ideas, the Skewville style will continue to to be a New York classic.
